Low self-esteem can manifest itself in a number of ways, including:
feeling unlovable, awkward, or incompetent
lack of self worth
sensitivity to criticism
preoccupation with personal problems
self-harm
distorted eating

What causes low self-esteem?
Low self-esteem can stem from a variety of things, including:

negative friends
trauma
negative thought patterns

previous bad choices
critical upbringing
Living with low self-esteem can feel overwhelming. It can feel like you question even the smallest decisions you make. You have no confidence in yourself at all! It feels awful.
