What causes low self-esteem?

Low self-esteem can stem from a variety of things, including:

  • uninterested and/or uninvolved parents

  • negative friends

  • trauma

  • negative thought patterns

  • body image

  • unrealistic goals

  • previous bad choices

  • critical upbringing

Living with low self-esteem can feel overwhelming. It can feel like you question even the smallest decisions you make. You have no confidence in yourself at all! It feels awful.
