What is burnout?

Burnout can happen to us when we experience a prolonged and ongoing period of stress. It manifests as complete exhaustion.

Burnout can leave us feeling irritable and on-edge. We may feel a range of symptoms, such as:

  • detached and apathetic

  • ineffective and unable to meet demands

  • emotionally and physically drained

  • forgetful and/or unable to focus or concentrate on tasks

  • depressed and unable to get out of bed

  • tired all the time

When we suffer from burnout, nothing feels fun anymore - things that once brought us joy no longer do.

What causes burnout?

Burnout can have different causes - and none of them feel good!

They can include:

  • ongoing anxiety and prolonged exposure to stressful situations

  • taking on too much and/or putting pressure on yourself to always succeed, no matter what

  • a lack of balance between between work & play


    No matter what is causing burnout in your life, we’ll work together to identify the cause(s) and compassionately learn productive coping techniques to help you move past it.
